After the last book, I needed a palate cleanser. And The Housemaid’s Wedding was just perfect for that. I really like Freida McFadden and how she writes. I know it’s not for everyone, but she’s easy to read and still has a great story and fantastic twists. This book did not disappoint.
This is a short story meant to tie in The Housemaid’s Secret with The Housemaid is Watching. We know that in between those two books, Millie and Enzo not only become a couple, but they’re married with two children. This book fills in some of those gaps.
In this book, we learn about their wedding, but there’s still something sinister happening in the background. A man keeps calling and threatening Millie. She’s hiding it from Enzo so he doesn’t freak out. She’s pregnant now but still helping women escape their abusive partners. It’s dangerous work. The man on the phone could be anyone! And she starts to freak herself out when she keeps seeing people who she thinks might be following her.
One turns out to be the man who helped her with her wedding dress, and another turns out to be the brother of a woman they helped. Because Millie’s parents are awful and decide not to attend her wedding, which is just a courthouse event, her brother ends up being their witness.
Everything is working out, except who is it that keeps threatening her? What’s going to happen? Turns out Enzo put an end to that – he won’t be bothering her anymore!
