Book Report: The Cold Quiet Everywhere

Next up in the Sadie Gray FBI Mystery Series by RB Schow is Book 7, The Cold Quiet Everywhere.

This time, Sadie and Brad are called in after the bodies of several women are discovered near a remote waterway outside Lincoln, California. What initially looks like a local homicide investigation quickly spirals into something far more disturbing as unusual markings on the victims point investigators toward something much bigger and far more dangerous.

Working alongside veteran Violent Crimes investigator Nathan Rivas, Sadie and Brad begin uncovering a brutal criminal network tied to local businesses, law enforcement, and even politics. As more victims surface and the conspiracy grows darker, the case becomes one of the most intense and terrifying investigations Sadie has faced yet. Honestly, after everything that happened in The Place of Many Trees, I’m both excited and slightly nervous to see where this series goes next.

I absolutely loved this one. The story was intense, fast-paced, and honestly, one of the most emotionally gripping books in the series so far. RB Schow does such a good job balancing the dark, high-stakes investigation with the personal relationships and emotional moments that make these characters feel so real.

One of my favorite parts was finally getting to see Sadie work alongside Lauren and Nathan Rivas after hearing about them in previous books. Rivas, especially, was such a great addition to the story. I loved his style of justice and the way he approaches cases — tough, relentless, and willing to push boundaries when it matters.

As always, Sadie and Brad continue to be one of my favorite parts of the series. Their partnership feels so natural, and I love the way they can joke with each other and bring a little lightness into such heavy situations. And that kiss? It absolutely rocked Sadie’s world, even if she’s still trying so hard to keep their relationship firmly in “partner” territory.

At the same time, I really loved seeing Sadie’s relationship with Barrett continue to grow. He’s so patient, kind, and understanding with her, especially knowing everything she’s been through. I genuinely hope that the relationship keeps moving forward because there’s something really comforting about the stability he brings into her life.

One of the sweetest parts of this book was seeing Sadie finally start building a real home and sense of family with DC, Willow, and Natalie. After everything she’s survived, those quieter moments felt especially meaningful.

And then that ending. The possibility that Sadie may finally have a lead on where her mother is completely changed everything heading into the next book. I already can’t wait to see what happens next.
