This book was just wow. Another one I’d love to see as a movie. That’s Not My Name, by Megan Lally, starts with a girl waking up on the side of the road. She’s bruised and cold and doesn’t know how she got there. An officer finds her and takes her back to the station.
When her father appears and wants to take her home, the officer makes him provide proof that she’s his daughter, Mary, since she has no memory of him at all. No memory of anything. He provides the necessary proof and takes her back to the cabin.
But strange things start to happen, like feeding her things she’s allergic to or giving her clothes that don’t fit. She can’t help but feel like she’s living a life that’s not hers.
In the meantime, Drew’s girlfriend, Lola, has disappeared. Everyone blames him, including her father, the Sheriff. But Drew stops at nothing to find her. And the end is a twist I didn’t see coming.
This book was riveting, and I couldn’t put it down. I was able to read it in just a few days. Make it a movie!
