Up next is No Place Left to Hide by Megan Lally.
Brooke has worked hard to rebuild her perfect life after “the incident” that nearly ruined it. With acceptance into her dream university, she’s ready for a fresh start—and celebrates at a class bonfire with her crush.
But the night turns terrifying when an old truck begins tailing Brooke and her best friend on a deserted road. Someone believes they know the truth about her past—and won’t stop until it’s exposed. To keep her secrets buried, Brooke may first have to survive the ride home.
This book completely had me turned upside down.
At first, I fully bought into the idea that Brooke was a victim—someone who didn’t deserve what was happening to her. I felt frustrated for her and couldn’t understand how things had spiraled so far out of control. But as the story unfolded, little cracks started to show, and I realized there was so much more going on beneath the surface.
And wow…was I wrong.
The truth about Brooke—and the people closest to her—completely shifted everything I thought I knew. It’s one of those stories where you start off seeing things one way, and by the end, you’re questioning every assumption you made along the way.
What really stood out to me was how layered Brooke’s character was. She’s not as innocent as she first appears, and the deeper you get into her story, the more complicated everything becomes. There were definitely moments where I found myself frustrated with her mindset and the way she justified things—but honestly, that’s what made the story so gripping.
The tension builds steadily throughout, especially during that long, terrifying ride, and it keeps you locked in as the truth slowly comes to light.
Overall, this was a fast-paced, suspenseful read that kept me guessing and definitely surprised me. If you enjoy thrillers where nothing is quite what it seems, and the main character might not be as trustworthy as you think, this one is worth the ride.
