Book Report: Blood Test

Up next is Blood Test, book 14 of the Jade Monroe Live or Die Series by C.M. Sutter.

Five women have vanished in Asheville, North Carolina. No witnesses, no bodies, only abandoned cars left on dark, empty roads. Each disappearance defies logic. Why would any woman pull over alone at night and simply disappear?

With the investigation stalled and pressure mounting, the FBI’s Serial Crimes Unit sends Agents Jade Monroe and Lorenzo DeLeon to uncover the truth. The pattern is clear—someone is using a calculated ruse to lure victims out of their cars—but the how and why remain a mystery.

When rookie deputy Carrie Smythe joins Jade in chasing leads, her instincts prove sharp but not sharp enough. She vanishes in broad daylight, turning a cold case into a desperate search for answers.

Now the clock is ticking. Because if Jade doesn’t find the connection soon, Carrie will become just another car left behind—and another woman gone without a trace.

I loved this book. We know who the killer is almost from the very beginning, but he is incredibly careful and leaves behind no evidence. By the time our favorite special agents, Jade Monroe and Lorenzo DeLeon, arrive on the case, you’re left wondering how they will ever catch him. Then, when Carrie goes missing, the story shifts into a race against the clock that had me turning pages as fast as I could.

One thing that really stood out to me was how truly evil the killer was. His hatred of women was disturbing, and his method of carrying out his crimes was unlike anything I’ve read before. The lobotomies added an extra layer of horror that made the story even more unsettling. When Carrie was taken, I honestly thought she was a goner. I was so relieved when she was found alive. She has a long road to recovery ahead of her, but she showed incredible strength and seemed to make progress quickly. With Jade’s support, I am hopeful she will continue healing.

As always, I loved the partnership between Jade and Lorenzo. They respect each other completely and are never afraid to challenge one another’s theories. Instead of taking it personally, they listen, ask questions, and work through the possibilities together. That kind of teamwork is what helps them find answers so quickly, and it is one of my favorite parts of the entire series.

Blood Test was another fantastic addition to the Jade Monroe Live or Die series. It was suspenseful, creepy, and emotional, with plenty of twists and high-stakes moments. If you’ve been following Jade and Lorenzo’s journey, this is definitely one you won’t want to miss.
