It turns out I wasn’t done with the adventures of Special Agents Jade Monroe and Lorenzo DeLeon in the Jade Monroe Live or Die Series by C.M. Sutter. We’re back with Book 13: Blood Oath.
One phone call. One desperate plea. One chance to survive.
An unexpected call alerts FBI agent Jade Monroe to a crisis spiraling out of control.
Deidra Ryan, a Denver police officer and Jade’s longtime friend, has stumbled onto a secret within her own department—corruption at its highest level.
With her badge now a liability and trust nowhere to be found, Dee puts her life in Jade’s hands. The investigation reveals a pay-to-play operation allowing massive quantities of drugs into the city, the crime protected by those who took an oath to uphold the law.
Threats pour in. Loved ones are murdered without mercy. Each death is a warning—stop digging or die. Dee knows the next message will be written in her own blood.
Jade and the FBI must dismantle the operation fast, because if they fail, Dee Ryan will pay the ultimate price.

I really loved this story, and I thought it was such a cool change from the other books in the series. The opening immediately pulled me in because it starts with Jade and Renz decompressing on the plane after whatever happened with Deidra. Of course, at that point, we have no idea what actually happened yet, which made me want to keep reading right away.
What made this book stand out even more was that a huge portion of the story was told from Deidra’s point of view. I loved that. Watching her slowly realize what was happening inside her own department was intense. First, she’s dealing with suspicious behavior from her police captain and narcotics sergeant, then everything spirals after her partner is killed during a stakeout they never should have been part of. And when her sister is murdered too, Dee knows she can’t handle this alone anymore.
That’s when she finally calls Jade for help. Jade, Renz, and a group of trustworthy law enforcement officers step in to uncover the corruption, dismantle the drug operation, and take down the criminals behind it all.
I really loved this book. It was suspenseful, emotional, and different in such a good way. I especially enjoyed the storytelling style and getting so much of Dee’s perspective throughout the investigation. And honestly, I still think this entire series would make an amazing TV show. This book included.
