For my next book, I chose Never Lie by Freida McFadden.
Newlyweds Tricia and Ethan are searching for the house of their dreams.
But when they visit a remote manor that once belonged to Dr. Adrienne Hale—a renowned psychiatrist who vanished without a trace four years earlier—a violent winter storm traps them at the estate, with no chance of escape until the blizzard lets up.
Looking for something to pass the time, Tricia discovers a hidden room filled with cassette tapes—recordings of Dr. Hale’s sessions with her patients. As she listens, one by one, a chilling story begins to unfold, revealing the events leading up to the doctor’s mysterious disappearance.
And with each tape, the tension builds.

I have to say, this is easily one of my favorite books by Freida McFadden. It was so fast-paced that I finished it in just two days, and I was completely hooked the entire time. It had me on the edge of my seat, constantly trying to piece everything together.
And once again…I got it wrong.
I kept going back and forth on who I could trust. Ethan definitely had me suspicious for most of the book, and I was convinced there was more to him than he was letting on. But the deeper the story went, the more everything twisted in ways I didn’t see coming.
What I loved most was how the story slowly unraveled through the tapes. Each one added another layer, pulling me further into the mystery and making it almost impossible to stop reading.
I will say, by the end, I was shocked at just how much was really going on beneath the surface with these characters. No one is exactly who they seem, and that’s what makes this book so addictive.
Overall, this was a gripping, twisty thriller that kept me guessing until the very last page. If you’re a fan of locked-room mysteries, unreliable characters, and jaw-dropping reveals, this one is definitely a must-read.
