Well, this book hurt. The Exorcist’s House: Genesis, by Nick Roberts, really stayed with me. I kept thinking about it long after I had finished the book. So many sad parts. How do you fight evil? Real evil? Demons? The Devil?
I was sad to let these characters go. I wanted them all to live happily ever after. But this author had something else entirely in mind. And I now know for sure that Miren is the devil spawn. It’s proven by the very end of the book. But who’s left to defeat that evil?
I was so thrilled to learn more about the exorcist, Merle Blatty. The way his previous life was woven into the current events at the house was fantastic. I wondered how he got into this ‘business’ in the first place. I was also glad to learn more about his family and his son’s death. And I loved to see that his son tried to help him from beyond the grave.
So we know now that Mirren is the only one left. Her mom did end up killing herself. But what happens next? There’s a book coming out in September 2025, and I can’t wait to read it!
Also, here are a few quotes I loved:
“I remember what Father Stalling said about belief: ‘It’s belief that gives me faith, faith that gives me power…’”
“It’s the power of belief that gives a man strength, not a smock, not a rosary, not the ritual. If you don’t believe, they might as well be water pistols in a gun fight.”
“Tell the Spide an entire legion just got its ass kicked by a hillbilly in his underwear!”
