Book Report: Hidden Pictures

Hidden Pictures, by Jason Rekulak, was an amazing book. I am so glad I joined the Facebook group that recommends such wonderful stories. I seriously could have read this in one day. Life always gets in the way, but it makes the stories worth coming back to.

The main character, Mallory, is fresh out of rehab and is looking for a fresh start. She becomes a babysitter for the Maxwells and their five-year-old son, Teddy.

But strange things start happening when Teddy begins drawing such unusual things. I mean, first it’s the normal stuff like trees and balloons. But then one day, he draws realistic things like a man in the forest dragging a woman’s lifeless body.

The artwork becomes more sinister, and as Mallory tries to figure out this story, she realizes her job is at jeopardy. She can’t risk losing it, but she also needs to get to the bottom of this. And these drawings, these hidden pictures start to make sense. But is it too late?

I was constantly intrigued by the murder mystery the neighbor told Mallory. And that made me think, as well as the characters, that we knew what happened. But the twists in this book made us all wrong!
