Book Report: The Housemaid

Freida McFadden is mentioned numerous times in various Facebook groups. I thought I’d start with The Housemaid. It’s a three-book series, but it seems like most people really enjoyed it. They weren’t wrong.

This book follows the main character, Millie, a desperate woman looking for a job. With her previous incarceration for stabbing a man who was attacking her friend, her choices are limited.

So when she land the perfect job, being a housemaid to a well-to-do family, she can’t believe it. Nina seems like the perfect wife and mother and just needs some help with the housework. Millie is happy to oblige. She no longer had to live out of her car and actually makes a decent living.

But things aren’t what they appear to be.

Soon, Nina seems to have multiple personalities. Nice to Millie one moment then condescending and horrible the next. Mille doesn’t know what to think.

But Millie feels comfort in Nina’s husband’s sad eyes. She thinks they’re marriage may not be all it seems.

Without giving anything away, the twist in this is just amazing. It’s being turned into a movie with Sydney Sweeney as Millie and Amanda Seyfried as Nina. I’m so excited to see it!
