Spring Break is another busy time of year. No school or soccer but still very busy. We bring it on ourselves. There’s a house to clean…and clean well. Field trips with the kids to Mitch Park, Science Museum, the Zoo, Martin Nature Park, etc.
But this year was different.
Mike decided to take Devin and Austin to Louisiana to visit family. Braden went camping with Matthew and his family. I had made plans to clean the house, so I stayed. With all the dogs, it just made sense.
I was sent pictures though, so enjoy some of our Spring Break festivities!
Braden
I have not heard from this kid the whole time he’s been gone. It’s Thursday and he left on Saturday. I bet he’s having a blast. I’ve been told that where they went camping in Arkansas, there’s an island they could kayak to. It’s been so much fun, they all decided to camp there!
I did get one picture from them though. I love that he loves the outdoors!

Mike, Devin, & Austin
They’ve been having a blast! It doesn’t seem like they’ve been doing much resting! But they all seem to be really enjoying some time away. Here’s a few things they’ve done.
Visit Brad, Marissa, and Baby Ada
They all got to visit with them on Sunday. Mike was so happy. And I know both Devin and Austin were looking forward to meeting their cousin. She’s adorable.

Boat Tour Time!
The next adventure was a Louisiana boat tour. Mike swears it’s the same captain we saw last time. It’s funny because I remember Devin going when he was just a tad younger than Austin is now.

Bowling
Yes. They went bowling. Pappa joined a league and was ecstatic they wanted to bowl!

Top Golf
Or, as Austin calls it – Tolf Golf!

I’m sure there’s more they have planned. They’re even staying an extra day. Leaving Friday instead of today. Hopefully they can relax before coming back to work, chores, after-school activities, etc.

Me
As soon as they left on Saturday, I went to work. I originally planned to split up the cleaning but I was on a roll and wanted to get it done. I knew I was meeting Laura at church and we were going to dinner after, so I worked as fast and hard as I could to get it done. And you know what…totally worth it. Not only did I not have to worry about it later, but it’s still clean. It’s such a nice feeling.
The rest of the time I’ve been working on exercising, walking the dogs, some light cleaning like laundry, dishes, and reading. I actually got to finish a book! Under the Beetle’s Cellar by Mary Willis Walker. It’s a book I read when I was in high school. It was one of my mom’s books that I just loved—had to reread. And I’ve started on a second one. It’s called Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica. So far it’s been really intriguing. I never get to read. Well, I rarely have time and when I do, I’d rather watch tv. I need to change that. It was nice to sit outside and just relax and read and watch the dogs.
Oh, and I got to have a pedicure thanks to Laura! It’s the first one in…a very long time. Probably 10 years. It felt so good.
I’ve really enjoyed this time to relax. I eat when I want. I clean up after myself, the dogs, and no one else. Nowhere I have to be—nothing I have to do. Rearranging my schedule is so easy. I wish it could be like this all the time!

They get super tired from walkies!
And I have to show you this picture of Mac who happens to look like Eyore!

He was being bothered by a fly. It would sit on his left but as soon as he turned, it would move to his right. This went on for a while. Too bad I didn’t get it on video. He was so dejected he couldn’t get it. His body is just too long and he moved from side to side too slow. It was really funny. But he looks so sad here. Poor baby.
