Devin joined other Oklahoma ODP players in a tournament in Memphis, TN February 15-17, 2025.
It started out as a cold and dreary weekend filled with rain, flooding, and a tornado watch. But we made the most of it before and after soccer games!
First Stop – Bass Pro Shop
Not only is the Bass Pro Shop inside a glass pyramid, it’s also part of a hotel – with cabin-like rooms. Let’s just say, I wouldn’t mind if we go back just to stay there. It seems like a really neat vacation spot.
Next Stop – BB King’s
I know it’s touristy. Right on the corner of Beale Street. But we had to go. And I’m so glad we did.
Not only was the food superb (the best pulled pork sandwich I’ve ever had, Devin devoured his ribs, and some amazing local amber beer) but the Blue trio performed for us. They were amazing! But that wasn’t all. After their first set, Chris Pitts let Austin come up on stage and hold his guitar and even strum a few notes. I got a couple of pictures. Let’s just say, Austin will never ever forget this experience.
End of the trip
It’s hard to do much fun when there’s soccer going on. So much planning around those games from meal times to rest time and even sleep. But, it was certainly worth it. I can’t wait to do it again.
And even cooler, this was our view coming home.
