It’s time to introduce you to two new members of our family. On a whim, we decided to adopt two Basset Hounds.
Meet Mac and Ruby.
Ruby was almost a year and a half and Mac just turned a year when we got them. And let me tell you, it was love at first site!
We didn’t set out to get both. Our original plan was to adopt Ruby. When they were brough to us to visit our house and the other animals, Mac tagged along. And he was so happy. They both played with our other dogs and relished in the attention. Austin was smitten right away. There was no way we could part with Mac. We had to have them both.
And so we did.
We hadn’t had a puppy in the house for quite some time so it was definitely an adjustment. Teething, chewing, digging. It doesn’t stop. We’ve had to puppy-proof the house and that’s a constant chore. They will find anything!
And they’re stubborn. Both of them. I always thought beagles were the most stubborn. I was wrong. Dead wrong. These two are not just stubborn bust strong. They know how to use their giant paws and their body weight to get what they want!
And though it’s been a struggle to stay on top of their mischievous ways, it’s also been a blessing. They’re both so beautiful and sweet. They love their walks and play time. They will sunbathe in the yard then come snuggle with you in bed. It’s hard to imagine not having them. It’s even harder to imagine something happening to them.
And I’m glad we got them both. They play so well with each other. That allows me to rest – if only for a moment!
So now we have 5 dogs: Jojo, Riley, Saydee, Ruby, and Mac. A big, loving, furry family!
