Another staple in our household growing up was country spare ribs. It was a hearty meal that really filled you up. And it’s perfect for cool fall or cold winter days.

1 package of Country ribs (bone-in are more tender)

1 head of garlic diced fine

1 medium yellow onion diced fine

2 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons of light brown sugar

2 tablespoons of butter

1 teaspoon of lemon juice or vinegar

Boil the spare ribs in a large pot of water for 45 minutes. Save ½ a cup of broth. Move the ribs to a baking dish.

In butter, sauté the onions. Once sauteed, add the garlic and continue cooking for about 5 minutes. Add the tomato sauce, brown sugar, lemon, Worcestershire sauce and broth and simmer for 5 more minutes. Pour the mixture over the ribs. Bake at 350 for 25-35 minutes.

Growing up, we served spare ribs with mashed potatoes and green beans or corn. But choose whatever sides work for you. You can’t go wrong!
