Devin is part of the Olympic Development Program in Oklahoma. These are kids from all over the state who have tried out and made the State Pool. They are exceptional kids and it’s a great opportunity for Devin to learn from different coaches, play with different kids, and learn teamwork in a variety of atmospheres.

Practices are held a couple of times a month in Tulsa and Midwest City. He’s worked hard to make the team and juggle the other events he’s doing.

Tryouts 2024

Tryouts were earlier this year which was great. It was before we got knee-deep into Crew games and tournaments. However, Devin still had to leave early to make it to a tryout in Dallas. But, he did really well and still made the State Pool.

Practices

Practices are obviously integral to the success of the team. These are kids who don’t play together very often and practices are limited to one or two times a month. With weather and traveling (depending on where practices might be), we try to make every practice we can. Devin hasn’t missed many, and it pays off.

Oklahoma Olympian of the Day

This was posted on Facebook. They highlighted the success of all of their Olympians and it’s so cool!

Memphis

Our first event happened in Memphis when a team from Oklahoma played against teams from other states.

I tried to take multiple pics and videos. We need to keep his YouTube channel and NCSA profile fresh. But I ended up missing the video of his goal which helped his team win 2-0 in that final game. Hoping some one else caught it!

Nearing the end

We’re nearing the end of this year. And because Devin is an 08, I believe this is the last year he can do ODP. So we’re trying to make the most of it. He has practices left and a possible selection to the Intraregional in Murfreesboro again this year. Though, he might have to decline due to the trip to Madrid, Spain for Futbico. I know being selected is really important, I’m kinda bummed we don’t get to go back this year. It was such a fun trip and I really enjoyed the city.

But I know Devin is moving on. He’s set his sights on bigger and better things and I appreciate that about him. We’re so thankful for what ODP has done for him and I know he’ll never forget it.

Here’s to Devin’s soccer future. ⚽
