Since the end of marching band season, I thought we’d take a break. Maybe have an easier schedule. Nope! Between Anterpalooza, Trumpet Ensemble events, and concerts, Devin has stayed very busy in band!

But he still seems to really be enjoying it. And that’s what I love. I really hope he continues because he’s been excelling at the various music he’s been performing.

Up first is the Trumpet Ensemble. They’ve been practicing a couple of times a week in preparation for the Solo & Ensemble Contest happening in April. They played at Antlerpalooza, but I’ve never heard them perform. So when they got invited to perform prior to the OKC Philharmonic concert, we jumped at the chance to see them. What an honor!

He looks so grown!

Then Tuesday, March 7th, the Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony performed their Spring concerts. I believe one or more songs will be used for the Band Contest in Mustang in April. You can tell they’ve been working hard. And again, I’m so proud of Devin!

The Deer Creek High School Wind Symphony went to a non-competitive concert contest in Mustand on April 6th. We were lucky enough to be able to go (skipped work for it!) And I’m so glad we did. It was an amazing performance. Even better than their March concert had been.

Devin will also perform a solo at the Solo and Ensemble Contest. I’m excited to see what he gets and what the judges have to say.

And before long, marching band will kick off again. They have several practices scheduled for this summer. No rest for Devin!
