Austin Turns 7!

I cannot believe that another year has gone by and that Austin is now 7.

I look back through videos and wonder where that baby face, dimply smile, and adorable baby babble have gone. I know it’s cliché, but it’s true. Time does fly.

But it’s also kind of cool to watch Austin grow so fast. He seems very mature sometimes, saying the funniest things.

Recently, we were walking home from the bus stop, and Austin was saying that he almost got Study Hall. Apparently, that’s not a good thing. I guess he needed to write 5 sentences, but it’s tough. He says he knows they’re getting older, but he can’t do it that fast. He said, “My feet are fast, not my hands!’ I almost died! We’re always saying how fast he is when he runs. I suppose that doesn’t translate well to writing sentences!

But that wasn’t the whole story. I mean, that was funny enough. So when I told him to remind me to tell dad, he bluntly said, “Put it on your calendar.” I guess he knows me too well. I always forget!

Love him. And his smart mouth.

Oh, and later, we were in the car on the way to his soccer practice. It’s at a time when I can’t cook dinner before, so he usually has a couple of snacks, and then we eat dinner after.

Well, he’s in the backseat listening to the Scooby Doo DVD and also playing on his mini arcade game. All of a sudden, he stops and says, “Snack break!” He stops his game to eat his snacks.

He loves soccer, loves to be outside, and wants so badly to play with and be with his brothers at all times. He loves bowling and Top Golf. He loves to walk trails and ride his bike or scooter. He’s just a fun-loving sweetheart.

So here’s to my 7-year-old. A little boy who’s adventurous, sweet, caring, spicy, smart, wonderful, and loving. Happy Birthday, little dude!
