We are here already. The summer flew by in the blink of an eye.
We played card games, went swimming, watched movies, played golf, went on soccer trips (is there any other kind?), went to Skyzone, and so much more.
But it was gone before we knew it. And here we are. At the beginning of another school year.
Austin started 1st grade.
He likes school. But he also liked staying home all summer. Though he got bored easily. Thankfully, one of his brothers was usually around to help with the boredom. But this easily turned into arguing. Or maybe just yelling because he was being chased and having fun. It was hard to tell.
He still tells me he wants to be a scientist. I know he likes STEM. I hope that continues. It’s not an easy profession to get into, but it will be really exciting if he finds something he likes.
He’s also still playing soccer. We did Indoor Summer II to keep him ready for outdoor soccer and burn off some energy. It was just a house team, but it’s been a good experience. Austin has been scoring a lot and really showing off that speed. He starts outdoor soccer in early September. He’s excited to get back to his team.
Braden started 7th grade.

And football!
It’s hot in Oklahoma. And that has really been hard on the kid who didn’t do much this summer. I mean, he’s been a swimming machine either at the lake or at friends’ houses. But that’s not the same. He realized it too late. And football has been hard on him. But he likes it!
He’s still in band and playing the French horn. We’ve worked on 1 of the 3 CODA songs he needs to have ready by November. It’s tough because he’s very talented, but putting the work into things isn’t at all enjoyable for him.
He’ll also be on the Track & Field team doing the shot put. That will be so cool. I remember skipping work to go to Devin’s track meets. Can’t wait to do the same for Braden!
He seems excited about his classes, and I’m excited for him. Looking forward to a great year.
Devin started his Senior year.
I’m already struggling.
I wrote about a few things I’m going to miss. It’s hard to think about them, though.
But it will also be a great year for him.
He’s not doing band, so his focus can solely be on soccer (and school, I hope.)
As sad as I am that this year will be full of lasts, I’m also very excited to see what’s in store for him.
