We are so excited for Devin who will be joining the competitive soccer team The Crew for the 2022-2023 season!
Tryouts were a couple of weeks ago. Devin and one of his True Potential teammates, Jack, made the advanced team. This means that they’ll not only be on the 2008 team, but they’ll be on the 2007 team as well. And depending on how they practice and play, they could be moved up to the 2006 team in the event they need substitutes.
Devin has two days of wonderful practices but it was more than that. I absolutely loved that so many coaches were there to watch the try-outs. You don’t get that everywhere. It’s hard for one or two or even three coaches to see everything everyone is doing. Having so much help and support made us feel like they cared about who they took, wanted to see the best in everyone, and were prepared to watch their skills. They weren’t just looking at whether they had been on the team before or not. And they didn’t care that none of the True Potential players had been on a club team before. It was skill, plain and simple. That’s all we can ask for.
Devin has had a few practices since tryouts. He loves it. It’s so neat to see the smile on his face when he leaves the field. And he’s liking the practice format, coaches, team, etc. I’m so happy we made this decision.
